Welcome to the pit from the Land of Enchantment!

As for the kettle and temp control, to make it easier for me ( I was tired of trying to look below and see where the vents were) I used a sharpie and marked where fully open, 1/2 and closed were on the vent. With the SNS and foil, I Couldn’t see in the grill and thought this was a great way to help. But I usually start with the bottom half open and make adjustments from there, usually closing it a bit more once my temps start creeping to where I want.

enjoy the club and keep posting those great cooks!

Welcome from south side Chicago! This is a great community that has taken me from newly learning the snake method to using an SNS and fan to rocking the Oklahoma Joe Bronco. You will learn much from this group of people!

Welcome from Maryland. Since you have an SnS insert take a look at this post on temperatures. Eric’s method really works well. https://pitmaster.amazingribs.com/fo...74#post1431674

Welcome to The Pit from Texas. I have the Weber MT Kettle with the SnS.I agree, throw away that squirt bottle. The kettle can do almost everything from low and slow to hot and fast smoking, to searing and direct grilling. I also got the Vortex for chicken. I love my kettle and OKJ Bronco. With your Fireboard and your SnS accessories, your kettle will rock.

                  Welcome from St. Pete, FL!
Low grade obsession, yeah I’m betting that’s how most of us started. Now I have 4 cookers, and my outside kitchen has better equipment and space than the inside. 😂
