Hello everyone,
Fred Bland here from Rancho Mirage California. I have been competing for almost a year. Using this site has helped me get a GC, 1st and 2nd in chicken, 1st in ribs, 1st in pork butt and 4th in brisket. Thank you all for thoughts and ideas.
Scotch: Current favorite- The Arran (anything by them), Glenmorangie 12yr Lasanta, sherry cask finished. The Balvenie Double Wood, also like Oban 18yr, and The Glenlivet Nadurra (Oloroso sherry cask finished) among others. Neat please.

Welcome Fred/crubos! Great to have you here. That's great that what you've learned here has helped you get those placements! Three 1st places, that's fantastic! What wood do you use on your meats, is it all the same or do you do something different for brisket? Out of curiosity...
When you get a minute, check out Pit Boss' Welcome and Announcements channel, as well as the tips posts within that channel. These will help you set up your signature (we want to know what cookers you use, and other gear!), as well as learn the best way to post some nice big photos of your cooks here at The Pit! Thanks for the support, and enjoy!
Welcome, good to hear from a competition guy. While I learn a lot from the BBQ Pitmasters show, I liked the first season the best where they followed the teams around showing what they went through.
