New joiner here. It's hard to quantify or describe something like cooking experience, but I started learning from cookbooks in my early 20s, did a year in a fancy (ish) restaurant kitchen when I wanted to go pro (The White Dog Cafe in Philadelphia). 30 years later I've been the main cook for a family of 5 all these years, especially for holidays. I'm also an avid bartender and craft cocktail maker (and have worked in that area as well). I've been a fan of BBQ, especially Beachwood Barbecue in Seal Beach where my father lived, but I never had that much skill or knowledge, and then with that recent New Yorker article about smoking I discovered the site and the book, and the 6 things I've cooked so far have been amazing (skirt steak, chickens, smoked salmon, ribs, brisket, tomahawk steaks). I use a Weber kettle and a slow n sear with the Thermopop Smoke thermometer. Nice to meet you all!
