Long time lurker, first time poster. I've been using Amazingribs.com for a number of years now and joined the Pitmaster Club in 2020. Figured I'd introduce myself now as part of my resolution to cook more in 2022. My wife is the foodie of the household and loves to cook, so I guess it is time for me to share the weight and bring some solid grilled and smoked foods to the table.
I started my smoking journey over 15 years ago when my wife gave me free rein to use Amazon for part of our wedding registry. After knocking out the staples like electric screwdriver, hedge trimmers, beer fridge, and chainsaw, I came upon the Brinkman charcoal barrel smoker (green) so added it to the list.
Wife: "What are you going to do with that?"
Me: "I dunno, smoke stuff", and so our journey began.
I made some pretty bad stuff at first since I focused on making sure the "thermometer" was always in the middle of "Smoke". But then one night after missing dinner by over 4 hours, I stumbled into making an amazing brisket. Since then I've been honing my skills and trying to learn from others, but still not quite cooking as much as I'd like.
So 2022 is the year to change that, thanks to my recent diagnosis of MCS. Also tough in this region to cook through all times of the year, so hoping the new arrival below can help with that some. Looking forward to learning more from all of you, and possibly interacting a bit more as well.
