I agree, that is my biggest lament with the Yoder - I find significant temp differences from top to bottom, front to back and left to right. My hottest spots are front right, coolest left rear. Sometimes 70-80ºF or more. Gotta pay attention.Originally posted by Donw View PostOutstanding, and congratulations on your Yoder. I have the older style 640 and absolutely love it. My only advice is to do a toast test so you learn every hot and cold spot on the grates.

My current cookers include a Shirley Fabrication 24x36 patio model; Weber Performer with the Slow-n-Sear 2.0 & Drip & Griddle; Pit Boss Series 2 propane smoker & SnS Travel Kettle.
Straight Whiskey: I'm a bourbon guy. All time favorite Pappy Van Winkle 12 year. Standard go to Blantons
Blended Whiskey: James Oliver American Whiskey
I also enjoy an occasional cigar
Welcome and congratulations on the new cooker! You're already getting good advice from the members above. Do some practice runs to figure your hot/cool spots, temp control and how to hit the temps you will be using.
