Max,

What is your process on reviewing smokers? Do the manufactures contact you? Do you all get a free one or do they provide it for a while and get it back? If the prior, do you all have a warehouse full of smokers?

I ask because none of the heavy hitting pit makers out of Texas have hands on reviews, several just have "reviewed from afar"

Out of all of my friends, especially in the Houston area, if they have a backyard smoker or a trailer, it's going to be one of the following. When I told them I bought a hasty bake from OK, they almost killed me. I'd love to see some hands on reviews from the below:

Klose
Gator Pits
Pit Maker
Pitts & Spitts
Lone Star Grillz
Lyfe Tyme

As you can imagine, it is difficult for us to test every product available for sale. Therefore we do three types of reviews. This information is included in every review.
1. Cooked On It. This means we have hands-on experience testing this product. We have also gathered info from the manufacturer, owners, and other reliable sources.
2. Looked Closely At It. This means we have seen this product up close and we have also gathered info from the manufacturer, owners, and other reliable sources.
3. Researched It From Afar. This means we have researched this product from afar by gathering info from the manufacturer, owners, and other reliable sources, with our BS meters on high.
Many manufacturers provide test models for our reviews. We do not have a warehouse of grills and smokers. When the review is complete, manufacturers may pick up or give away their test model. If they choose not to do so we typically give them to local fire departments, charities, etc. Of course I always keep up to a dozen on my deck.
