    Never look at Craigslist....

"Hey, I wonder if there are any cool smoker deals on CL..."

    "Mak 2 Star: $1000"

Thankfully for my bank account it's in Portland, a bit over 200 miles from me.

PS: If anyone happens to be in Portland... it's this. https://portland.craigslist.org/clk/...124310826.html

And I don't even want a new cooker right now, really.

Ad states it's in Longview, WA. That knocks off 50 miles.

      You're not helping!

ofelles - it's actually farther from CN than from me. I'd strongly consider this if it was closer and more importantly it I had a way to get it home. I have a Saab sedan, the Mak 2 aint fitting in that trunk.

There'a also a Yoder 640 closer but it's $1650 which, while a good deal if it's in good shape, isn't the screaming deal that the Mak 2 is.

ofelles Not a chance. Not only is it 350 miles from me and having to go over the hill, I have more apple wood than you and I could burn for the rest of our lives, so I'm not interested in pellets. However, if I did, I'd have no trouble getting it home. My biggest problem would be deciding which truck to take, and if I wanted to, which trailer to pull.

So what did I do right after reading your post? Yup. Checked Craigs List. 🙄
Thankfully nothing of interest there. Another bullet dodged......,

10-4 I watch Kijiji up here religiously, found and sold my Weber 22" there.
Found another one yesterday for a great price but passed....it'd be the same result as last time.....
Looking for a pellet pooper now.
Most likely will be the same as the 22" but gives me something to do

talk him down to 800 or less, that's a very early model 2 star and I don't think it can upgrade much if at all other than the controller

It's still in fantastic condition though, seeing old units like this is exactly what helped put the nail in the coffin on my search for pellet smoker brands

Ditto. Part of the reason I don't do it, or at least often.

To a certain extent, you can go in and modify the search parameters to exclude certain categories of items. But that might not stop the clearly food-related stuff like you have there.

tenphases Drop BBQ and try just 'smoker'. Also, try specific terms, e.g. "pellet smoker" etc. BBQ brings up a lot of crap.

Yeah last year there was a listing an hour away from us for a Hasty Bake at $900. The wife even gave tacit approval. That was tough, but I'm holding out for a LSG.
