Well it has arrived!!! Pick up went smooth as could be. It was an elderly couple that was "downsizing" and they were ready to get rid of the BGE. They we some of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. They were a little nervous when me and two of my buddies got out of my truck, in the dark of night. However, we offered our hands and they warmed up instantly.
Lucky for me that they were so nice, because, they threw in all the essential Eggcessories. I got a plate setter, brand new 304 stainless grate, BGE foot pads, BGE tool, chicken roaster, rib rack, ceramic chimney cap, a cookbook and they even threw in a bag of BGE lump! Of course, I got the table with it too! This is a really nice cooker. I bet it has not been used more than five times, or so.
The couple mentioned, "We never used it, we just don't get it. Gas is more our thing." He continued, "The only thing we ever did on it was grill steaks a few times." I could tell they only grilled on the Egg because the plate setter looks pretty much brand new, as you can see in the picture below.
The inside is pretty clean, I checked it and the fire bowl/ring for cracks, nothing! I was really stoked when I saw the condition of the BGE. I think I got a great deal here.
The table does need some work, but it is still solid. I am not in a huge hurry to fix up the table right now, that might be a spring project in my father's shop.

All in all, this was a great buy and I thank everyone in The Pit for their "encouragement" on this purchase. Now that my MCS itch has been scratched, for a while, I need to get this sucker set up!

    Keep the smoke rollin' !

How cool! Congrats again. I look forward to some side by side cooks with your BKK. If I ever get one I have a lot of choices and I think they're all worthy contenders.

Awesome deal and that BGE definitely looks like it was used all of 5 or 6 times. Should last you a loooooooong time!

Yeah it was probably used more than 5 times, I prefer lightly used. Like you said, it should last for a loooooong time! Can't wait to get it going!

Here is the inaugural cook! Today, I am doing a few chuckies on the BGE. I added a few hooks and a railing to the grilling center, so I could hang some towels, grates and tools.
One big difference between the BGE and the BKK is the time it takes to heat up and soak. Today, it is about 45 F and it took me about an hour to get everything settled in. I am realizing how much more thermal mass there is with these BGE, when compared to my BKK. I am also finding that the temps stay much more rock solid. I mean this sucker is like a steam roller. I love it. And I can really see how a controller would work even better with the Egg than it would with the BKK. Needless to say, I wish it hadn't taken so long for me to pick one of these up. I have been missing out on the real honey!
