    KBQ for Sale- Downey, CA

It is with great sadness that I must sell my KBQ. HOA will not allow a stick burner. Luckily I can still use charcoal briquettes and not just gas like most places.
We have a 12 month old KBQ that has 20 to 25 cooks on it. Thought I had a lot more but really only 2 cooks per month. The rest on PBC. I recently purchased 2 shelves from Bill for $75 so I have a total of 6. Also doing a package deal with my black and decker alligator lopper that Bill recommends (hardly used. Works perfectly). And have about $100+ worth of wood. 90% of it is well seasoned. Mostly almond and mesquite. Some red oak and hickory. The hickory is not seasoned but not much of it. Might be some cherry left too.

Im located in Downey, CA. I'm firm on $1,000 including wood and alligator lopper.

It is not listed for sale anywhere else. Wanted to give my amazing friends first shot before trying elsewhere.
There is a small dent in back rear corner that has no affect at all on anything. Received it that way and was not a concern. I have a small spot on the plastic thermostat where it was melted a little. I'm guessing I placed a hot tool next to it after playing with the coals. No affect on anything either. The last 2 pictures show the 2 spots

Someone is going to be very happy! Wish I was within a couple of states away, but sadly too far.

After using my KBQ only once I would have to say I'd be putting the house/condo up for sale, not the stickburner. That said, your story (tale of woe) makes me ever more grateful I live in the country with no restrictions. BTW, quite familiar with Downey. My grandmother lived there. Born at the Kaiser in Hollywood, graduated from Gahr in Norwalk. Best to you.

You got the right idea! Keep the Que, sell the home!

That tradeoff would definitely have taken a lot of my attention in the same situation.

Bummer. I feel terrible. I wrote many rules like that for HOA's. ok, but not "that one." that one makes no sense.

I suppose the next suggestion, short of selling the place, is do you have a friend or relative that would let you use it at their place? Even if it is only getting used occasionally and it costs you some meat, at least you are keeping it. Or what are your future plans? If you are thinking of retiring someday to somewhere with less restrictions, and don't need the money from the sale, put it away and wait for that time to come. Personal experience has taught me that there are lots of things I've sold that later on wished I'd kept.

I have a relative not too far away but i think it would only be used 2 or 3 times a year. Not enough for me to keep it. I'd rather use the money to buy something for home. I have 28 years to go for retirement lol

The '52 Chevy I sold for $2500 I couldn't touch today for $25,000. If Bill, for whatever reason, quits making KBQs they could be hard to find in the future. Your life could change in a couple of years. I'm betting someday you'll regret it.

Amen, and good luck. HOAs seem to be packed with jack holes whose sole purpose is to control your life. I figure he's lucky to even be burning charcoal in Southern California. It wouldn't surprise me if the air quality Nazis in SoCal want to muzzle BBQ.

The KBQ is a great cooker. I know by watching Ernest 's thread on that cooker. That's a great buy and I'm not that far away from you, but I don't stay up all night to feed a smoker.😖 I'm sure someone will buy it soon.

When I'm planning on eating at 5 pm I plan on having the meat in the pit by 3 am that morning. No reason to be up all night.

Breadhead You can run it over 350°. I think most people would call 275-300 fast and furious. Now add in the fact that it has a convection fan and you can cook very quickly. I would start early but you don't need to

DWCowles ... being up at 3:00am to babysit my smoker, definitely screws with my beauty sleep, so... that is totally unexceptable! That's why I've never done a long low & slow cook in my 26" kettle with the SnS. It requires more babysitting than my BGE with the temperature controller.👌

Wish I had said something about Norco to you to meet up at comp. Did you cook at that one? Should have gotten together to use 2 kbq's. Sure would have been nice. That's why I tried to buy the 2nd kbq a month ago. I knew this was a possibility and wasn't afraid to have to sell 2

To put it in perspective, that's 3,000,000 more than the entire country of Canada.

ComfortablyNumb, that's really offensive to me. I figured AR would be free of this kind of divisive stuff. Can you be an American who loves BBQ like me without bringing this here? TIA!

My apologies johnnylighton, it was certainly not meant to offend, rather as a joke. I was born and raised in SoCal, among the citrus groves of Orange County and the dairies of Artesia, all of which have been replaced with urban/suburban sprawl. If that is your cup of tea, more power to you. I left for an unpopulated area, not much traffic, cleaner air, and hardly any crime or racial tension. It's not meant to be divisive, just a different choice is how to live.

Oh, for Pete's sake. I completely misunderstood you, ComfortablyNumb! My sincere apologies! Thanks for the explanation. On another BBQ board I read a few comments that made me feel on guard and defensive, and this was the result. I have gotten a great feeling from almost everyone who loves 'cue, and should have trusted that. And especially on AR. And, I must admit, I envy the rural life. I'm a lifetime big city person, but there's country in my blood, too. Sorry again for taking your joke the wrong way.

No worries. There is a trade off. I'm 20 miles from the nearest grocer, 100 miles from Costco, big box stores, and malls. No major sports team (no matter, I still bleed Dodger blue and subscribe to MLB) or venues. On the plus, I could lose half my teeth and nobody would pay any attention!
