Weber lover sharing my new product: the Woolly Bully

Hi Gang! I'm a longtime club member here and I wanted to share with you a grilling accessory that I've been working on for a few years and am finally able to share with the world; an insulated cover for the 22" Weber kettle -

The Woolly Bully turns 22" and 26" Weber kettle grills into high-performance, high-efficiency cooking machines with better heat retention, steadier temperatures, and less charcoal.

In our testing, the Woolly Bully provides more even cooking, gives you 1/3 longer burn times, and allows Weber lovers to grill in any clime and place. It was inspired by many of the articles here, including How to Grill and Smoke in Cold Weather, and the pros and cons of ceramic cookers detailed in the Buying Guide to Kamados. Also by my need to grill year round when life moved me to the rainy Pacific Northwest. I've learned a ton from this site, and the moderators have graciously allowed me to post here (thanks Huskee!).

There are a handful of units left from my first production run that I'd love to sell to fellow Pitmasters. Happy to answer any questions/take any feedback in the comments!

Thanks CaptainMike. Would be my honor to ship one to the Great State of Jefferson.

Thanks, Woolly, but my main kettle is a WSCG.

Very interesting idea! I don’t have a kettle so I don’t have a use for it and I’m in the Phoenix metro so we don’t get cold or rain like others do.
Love the name too. Just need a Sam the sham and some pharaohs.

Well, my kettle is a 2010 model, so no help. I don't do a lot of long cooks anyway...

That’s pretty cool. Will it work with the SNS Kettle?

I don't have access to an SNS kettle, but looking at photos it seems to have similar curvature to the Weber 22. Also the vent is in a similar spot, so there's a chance the Woolly Bully's vent opening would work. You'd definitely lose the thermometer though.

        Looks like a winner.

Quick question, WoollyBullyMax . My Performer is a 2010 model, so it may not be a candidate for this. How much of a problem is this, really? I don't use the thermometer at all.

The main issue will be the vent placement. Around 2015 Weber changed the vent from being in LINE with the handle, to being ASTRIDE it. E.g if you're looking down on your lid (birds-eye view) and you have the handle running North-South, the vent will be North (or South) of it. For post-2015 lids, if the handle is running N-S, the damper is West of it and the thermometer is East (or vice versa).
I love old grills, but I had to start somewhere. I'll let you know when I make one that fits your lid!

Sounds good, WoollyBullyMax . You have until about December to get this done. haha

Great looking product. My kettle is older and I only use it for grilling so I don’t need one, but I will let a couple friends know about it. They may be interested.

Well if it's older it might be getting cold, poorer circulation, and it can't tell you.

Awesome product idea and well-executed. I forwarded your web page link to SNS Grills. It would be a great addition to your product line to have a model for the 22" and the 18" SNS kettles that work with the SNS thermometer and vent configuration.

Living in MN, I know how much heat loss occurs when grilling in winter. I ended up getting a Kamado to deal with it, but the WB would have otherwise been an immediate purchase for me.

That is a cool item, especially for cold climates. Paired with this and you would have a budget kamado-like set up:

Charcoal firebox for 22" Weber kettle grills. Made of durable stainless steel, holds more charcoal, with ceramic heat stone and removable deflectors for even grilling.
