Buy it, buy it, buy it!! $300 bucks is a bargain if it runs. A friend gave me an old 1612 some years ago and it's a great tool. This company has all of the parts and great advice on refurbishing: https://www.oldhobartslicerparts.com/home.html
The slide and depth gauge were frozen on mine and they gave me all the help, parts, and advice to get it up and running like new again. I think I spent $250 bucks (including a new sharpener) and the fellow told me I had a slicer that was worth $1200. He said he loves these old machines and there's nothing about them that isn't serviceable.
Unless you have a dedicated place for it consider getting a heavy duty rolling cart. These things are beasts and not fun to handle manually.Last edited by CaptainMike; August 27, 2024, 07:36 AM.

As CaptainMike said, everything about those are pretty much serviceable. If the motor runs and the frame isn’t all wonky, it’s a great deal. Short of dropping one out of moving truck and bouncing it across a highway, they’re pretty indestructible. And just every part can be replaced anyway.
