Scotch: Current favorite- The Arran (anything by them), Glenmorangie 12yr Lasanta, sherry cask finished. The Balvenie Double Wood, also like Oban 18yr, and The Glenlivet Nadurra (Oloroso sherry cask finished) among others. Neat please.

I acquired a new rechargeable electric cocktail/whiskey smoker from Amazon, and I love the thing so far. It comes with 6 tins of different woods (apple, cherry, pear, oak, pecan, beech) and has lights to make it visually cool. Wayyyyy better and easier to use than the traditional use-a-torch-lighter ones I've used before, charges via USB-C.
Smoked an Old Fashioned last night, yum. Smoked a glass of IPA after that, yumm!
Today I popped a bottle of cabernet and decided I'd smoke it too. Yummm! Not something I would do every glass, but it was great and I've never heard of it before.
58limited I think you're right. They were visible to me, but then I couldn't edit the main post to re-add them just now, must've caught a gremlin from yesterday and had some bungled code in it. I reposted the pics below \/ \/
Yeah I suppose if you don't like it to start with you wouldn't like it smoked. I thought it added a just a subtle hint of smoke, not nearly the difference of say, a grilled burger vs a pan fried burger, but subtle enough to be fun, like w/ cocktails.
I've smoked what was left into the trash. Tried beef short ribs in red wine sauce, twice. Not for me, neither is the wine a la carte. That crap is nasty.

Have not tried wine, but will ask my wife if I can try that on a glass tomorrow night to see how it tastes. Were you putting something over the glass to hold the smoke for a specific length of time? Or just smoking and letting the smoke dissipate on its own?
And since the smoker gun will be out…of course a smoked old fashion too!
I reposted pics below, hopefully you can see them now, but it's a large red wine glass and the smoke held in there on its own quite well after removing the smoker. I swirled it around a bunch while the smoke was in there. Eventually had to blow it out. It was quite fun.

Char-Broil Smartchef Tru Infrared Gasser
Anovo Hot Tub Time Machine with Custom Hot Tub
Not to say that I know it all….. but I’m skeptical. I know some wines have smokey qualities…. But I would think adding more smoke would be overkill. YMMV
I used a fairly bold cabernet. Tasted great, but like I said I wouldn't do it every time, nor would I smoke a cocktail every time I make one. But for a here & there, yum.

Been smoking a handful of years, just got serious in the last two or three years. Thanks to AR n @glemn picked up an SnS Kamado for appx 1/3 price of new. I dont think he used it twice. Love AR! keep calm n smoke on! Miss you Bonesy.
I know Steven Raichlen is in to smoking cocktails, but I don't think I've ever seen him do wine. Still, I think it could work...especially with a robust red. The glass shapes traditionally used for such reds also might help in keeping the smoke in the glass, at least, better than most.

(This picture thing seems to be happening more and more. They show up for the original poster, but for whatever reason, are broken images for the rest of us. Weird bug.)
That is a cool smoke generator, more simple than others I have seen. I'm not really into smoked beverages but I might get one of those and experiment a little.
*Its in my cart, I'll get it the next time I do an Amazon order.
