I am a big fan of Grey Goose as I have it in reg flavor, pear, and citrus. That is my sipping vodka. My "mixxy" vodka is Platinum Vodka and it is distilled 7 times and only like $18 for a 1.75 L bottle. It is pretty smooth and cheap for a bargain vodka.

The blind vodka challenge

I read somewhere that "premium" vodkas are a bit of hype--fancy bottles and a big advertising budget don't necessarily translate into better taste, and since vodka is supposed to be a relatively taste and odor neutral spirit for drinking straight or mixing there isn't much to distinguish one brand from the other. It's probably the easiest spirit to distill - simple mash bill and distillation process. So long as it's distilled properly and filtered you should be able to produce a clean tasting product. That's why it doesn't surprise me that cheaper bottles can compete in blind taste tests. The stuff I drank in my youth in the former Soviet Union had some character, but the folks there enjoy it straight up with plates of pickled fish and vegetables. I've never really been able to distinguish, say, Smirnoff from Grey Goose in a martini. So I buy the mid-shelf stuff for mixing. But I could have a primitive palate.
