    Costco Tequila For Margaritas?

I’ve never made a Margarita, but I’m going to start. What’s a quality choice that isn’t super expensive? I’ll be shopping at the world’s largest alcohol retailer - Costco. TIA.

I’ve never tried any of Costco’s Kirkland branded liquor but from everything I’ve read they get high marks for quality.

I use the Blanco Tequila from Costco for margaritas and other cocktails at the lake. Have also used the añejo on occasion and it works great as well.

You missed Cinco de Mayo, but better late than never. Dunno about Costco tequila though. Like Panhead John , I've heard good things about their branded liquor. To me, you can't go wrong, because it's a mixed drink, so it's not like your drinking the tequila straight.

FWIW, I "salt" the rim of the glass with Tajin or Rancho Gorda's Stardust Powder.

I have heard the axiom that whenever you are mixing alcohol beverages use cheap alcohol. Save the best for sipping.

I feel strongly both ways in the good vs cheap liquor for a mixed drink. For sure I never use the really good stuff in a mixed drink. I do with it like I do when cooking with wine: if I wouldn't drink it I shouldn't use it.

fzxdoc it depends on the drink for me.If it's something like a Bloody Mary, or batch of bourbon slush, where the liquor isn't the star, I'll use cheaper liquor..if it's a spirit forward cocktail, like an Old Fashioned, Cosmo, Gin & Tonic etc, I'll use top shelf, every time.

Skinsfan1311 , I'm not much of a cocktail drinker. The occasional one will do me for several months.

I usually drink the top shelf spirits that I like neat or with an oversized ice cube.

At your suggestion, I will try a top shelf liquor in the next spirit-forward cocktail I make and do a taste test. My taste buds better be on their toes for that test! 😄

The Costco tequila should be a good start on your making margaritas journey. Personally, I think the quality of the tequila only matters when the mixture is where you can taste the tequila rather than the other ingredients. Well, unless the tequila is some white label bottom tier stuff!😃

I buy their Canadian whiskey as a substitute for Crown Royal, no issues and about 18 vs $ 55. Also their vodka is great.

Kirkland bourbon is pretty good too. It's sourced from the Barton distillery.

Costco doesn't stock Kirkland brand tequila here, but I can strongly endorse Zing Zang brand mix. We take margaritas seriously here in the subtropics.

According to one of my neighbors, this is the best margarita mix he’s ever used….he gave me a bottle to try but haven’t used it yet. Any of y’all ever try this?

We like it or the Zing Zang, Nina's just a tad more. Make sure you shake the bottle before pouring.

Be careful John. Some women know that tequila can make a man more affectionate and vulnerable. They’ll take advantage of you in your weakened state. Sadly it happened to me several years ago. The memory has been hard to shake.

These are true words. Tequila has also been known to make a man invisible and bulletproof.
