I never seem to get gifted whiskey bottles, and the ones I have keep turning up empty - and quickly. This is unacceptable. I mean, look at the state of many of these bottles:

My name is Josh, not Joey (surprise), and I reside in Central Ohio. I have been grilling since I could drive, and smoking for around 15 years. Over the past couple of years I have gotten more into just cooking, and really enjoy sous vide and the flat top. I find myself experimenting with different foods and new ways of cooking as an outlet to work stress. I use every piece of equipment I own regularly, with the exception of the electric smoker. That only gets brought out on occasion to make jerky.
My favorite beverage is bourbon. I typically have at least 8-10 bottles open at any given time. While I have favorites, I enjoy sampling new and different varieties.

We keep/re-purchase small bottles of coffee-chocolate liqueur every so often. Put a shot or two into the whipped creme dispenser directly to make, let's say, cappuccino-flavored whip.
it's a dessert topping, it's a floor wax.

We found a jug of Southern Comfort jammed in the back of the bar last year, figured it had to be 35 years old if it was a day.
Lid was stuck on it, steamed it off but no one had the onions to take a swig so tossed it.
Don't know if it was still Southern Comfort or tasted like a southern comforter....

Thanks for all the inputs. Due to age, I chucked everything and will replace with smaller bottles. Didn't have the guts to even give a taste.

Due to YOUR age, or the age of the bottles?
We've all been there, it always feels weird to throw out something that (may) be good, only to know you're going to replace it with a smaller, younger model.
er, bottle, I meant.
a smaller, newer bottle.
The good news is that you'll have a fresh bar available to impress your friends with. Or to distract them from bothering you at the grill, either one.
