Buffalo Trace Distillery has plenty of reasons to celebrate.
“We celebrate the nine millionth barrel coming out of this distillery since prohibition,” said Tyler Adams, homeplace manager of Buffalo Trace Distillery.
Through the years, Buffalo Trace has established itself as a popular stop along Kentucky’s Bourbon Trail. Just less than three years ago, the distillery celebrated its eight millionth barrel. Since then, the distillery has completed a $1.2 billion expansion project, helping pave the way for another milestone. However, while Buffalo Trace officials say they may have grown larger, they insist that one thing has remained the same - their commitment to bourbon.
“We’ve been doing the same thing here for over two hundred years and it takes a lot of to get that done. So, we are literally standing on the shoulders of those when we fill these barrels,” said Harlen Wheatley, the master distiller of Buffalo Trace.
