Who has a good wassail recipe?

looking for a good one that I can leave warming in the crockpot Christmas Day. Nothing smells better, but the batch I made last year was way too sweet.

Ah yes, my mom always used to make this back in the day. I love coming home to this smell.

    1/2 Orange
    1/2 Lemon
    Few Cinnamon sticks
    1 Teaspoon Whole Cloves
    1 teaspoon Nutmeg
    2-3 Star Anise
    2-3 bay leaves
    3-4 juniper berries
    2-3 cardamom pods
    2-3 all spice berries

Bring all to a boil, then back off the heat and let it ride on low. Crock pot, just leave on high.

What’s the liquid? I used apple cider before

That seems like a waste of wine. Oooh wait, I feel like we are talking about two different things here. We dont drink ours, this is for aromatics. LOL. RamaJama MBMorgan

      Alton browns is solid:

for a twist, cut out the brown sugar and add 1.5 cups of ret hots candy. That's how Mamaw Calhoun made it

Not wassail, but consider Meathead's free Swedish Glogg recipe. Have made 2 batches recently. Big hit. I even like it, and I typically am not partial to sweet stuff.

My brain read the title as Wasabi and so you can imagine my confusion reading these recipes

Meathead’s recipe for glogg is to the bomb! Just saying..,

I took it to two parties a couple of years ago and it totally disappeared!

I don't even know what glogg is but anything with that name I feel compelled to make.

jhuds. Find it on free side, tested recipes, under drinks. Apparently it is pronounced gloog.

          This is wine based:

          Colonial Wassail

1-750ml bottle of Merlot (I like Turning Leaf Merlot for this)

          2 cups cranberry juice cocktail

          3/4 cup sugar (I use 1/4 - 1/2 cup)

          1/4 cup lemon juice

          2 cinnamon sticks

          1/2 cup brandy (I use 1 cup)

          1/2 cup water

Put everything except brandy into a covered pot (to keep alcohol from evaporating) and heat thoroughly (do not boil), let set for 15-30 minutes to let cinnamon infuse. Add brandy and serve. You can add other spices such as orange/lemon slices, fresh ginger, or cloves if you wish.
