In the 60’s and 70’s Kathy and I use to make our own Sassafras ice tea by the gallon from the tree’s roots. A short walk in the woods, a little drying, a little boiling and then being able to enjoy a refreshing glass of it was always a hit, especially because everything was free except for the sugar. I guess we stopped when we moved to the Plains where the small trees don’t grow. Still kicking and no sign of the big C yet.
When dad was under hospice care he asked me to make him a sasssafras ( kindle spell check hasn't a clue on that word) float. I guess the old times were coming back.
