It's weird to look back and see how my coffee drinking has changed over the years. I started drinking coffee in high school as I had to get up at 5:30 am to catch the bus (and walk in the snow both ways). (For those in the Houston area, I was zoned to Sharpstown and under no circumstances would my parents allow me to go there, so both my sister and I were enrolled in the magnet program at Lamar, completely across the city.)
In college my coffee drinking got out of hand. Way out of hand. First, I spent a lot of time as an English, History, or Philosophy major....and, as such, became a complete and utter coffee snob. We are talking about spending my student loan money on $30/lb Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee....french presses, you name it. Looking back, it truly was embarrassing.
That stuff wore off in grad school and later life and I bounced around the Folger's and Maxwell House drip coffee for decades.
I generally drink 2-3 mugs of coffee a day. About four years ago I noticed I started getting really irritable around 11 am or so. I guess as I was getting older, the caffeine was just getting to me, so I switched to half-caf/half-decaf. My local HEB carries a decent blend under their store brand, so that is what I drink now. In fact, I am drinking it right now.

As far as the experts go, don't listen to em much anymore. Coffee has been around fer just awhile. A gallon of the stuff might not be good fer ya and if ya have a disagreement with the cup of Joe mebbee its a differnt problem.
Meself I usually have a cup or two than switch over to tea the rest of the day. Here's to ya!!!
