A while ago, a buddy (friend of friends) from college started a coffee roasting side business. Dell is public school teacher in Mississippi, and musician. His wife is an army reservist. They've got a little boy.... so when Dell told me that 1) they had twins on the way, and 2) he had started a monthly subscription of fresh roasted coffee, I figured I was obligated to try it.
I also knew Dell to be a smart guy, and pretty diligent, so I had at least moderate expectations for his coffee. But damn! I think he exceeded those!
I didn't really think that I'd find something that I liked more than my Community Coffee, but I think this is.
He's been doing small batches, inspired by bands from the area that he knows/ plays with. I could take or leave the music connection, but every month I get a bag of the Daily Grind and 1 bag of whatever his coffee of the month is. They're always good, but the Nighthawks coffee is probably the best coffee that I've ever made myself.
I mostly am posting this though because coffee based bbq rubs have been on my mind for a while. While I fiddle with those, I figured I'd link to where I was getting it.
I've used his Espresso Yo'Self in trying to replicate Carne Crosta. It hits the nail on the head!
I just got a new bag from his single origin (not listed on the website yet), and am trying that out for some pork rub.
Currently, it's in my cup (delicious), and on these sausage rolls.

Anyway, the website needs a bit of work, but if you want some really good coffee, check it out.
