    The Aero-Press Backfire

I've always felt a certain satisfaction hearing the sound of air escaping at the end of the Aero-Press cycle as the last bit of air passes through the filter. It reminded me of a gentle breeze coming through an open window and I think might shed light on where the name Aero-Press could come from.

That being said, as part of a recent thread on the Aero-Press, Caffeine88 put me on to what he termed the “Espresso Cap”, or what Aero-Press calls the “Flow Control Filter Cap”. This new cap uses a pressure-actuated valve to reduce drip during the brew process. With this new information in hand, I invested in the Flow Control Cap and a Stainless Steel Filter from the manufacturer. I agree that they do make what I think is a richer cup of coffee.

I digress when I say that with the Flow Control Filter Cap, gone are the days of the soothing sound of wind through an open window as I complete the press cycle. It has been replaced with what can only be called: “The Thunder From Down Under”. As such I would propose that Aero-Press combine their basic unit with the Flow Control Filter Cap and rebrand it the Pffft-Press. “A better cup of java with an espressivo booty blast.”

    Get yours today.

Alan Adler had invented, among other things, a flying ring toy he named the Aerobie before he invented the Aeropress. I suspect that's where the name came from.

I am a V60 pour over person. I like strong(1:13) coffee. I have been looking at these. I am assuming by your comments that you do enjoy the coffee this makes.

I prefer coffee from the AeroPress over a percolator, drip, or french press. For me it has a richer, smoother taste.

Aeropress is amazing. Coffee making actually reminds me a lot of grilling and smoking, in that you can simplify or complicate the process to infinity, and still enjoy outcome (most of the time). I had to buy another Aeropress for home when I moved the old one permanently to work a few years ago. My coworker calls my afternoon coffee ritual a "science experiment". I do a short upside-down brew before pressing usually.
