Blenheim Ginger Ale - any fans? Also good ginger ale recommendations wanted.

I "discovered" Blenheim Ginger Ale a few years ago, on one of my bourbon boards.
It's everything ginger ale should be. Bold, sweet and hot! It's turned me into a ginger ale snob, (if that's a thing).
They make a very hot version, (some claim that it's a "sinus clearer" and a "not as hot" version, that's still very spicy. They have a diet version, but I haven't tried it. as well as diet.

If you like the occasional whiskey and ginger, this soda stands up to the boldest of whiskeys.

There must be something to it because I'm very, very cheap, and don't hesitate to drop $48.00, ($32.00 + shipping), for it. Admittedly, a case lasts us for 6 months, or more, because we rarely drink sodas, (or mix anything in whiskey), but, when the occasion calls for it, nothing else will do.

Can anyone suggest any other really, really good, bold and flavorful ginger ale? Not Schweppes, or Canada Dry, but something sweet and spicy.

Bundaberg ginger beer is quite good. It's on the spicy end of the spectrum, rather than sweet. If you have access to a Costco, they sell it for a much better price than other stores.

WayneT I'm a Costco member and I've seen the Bundaberg there and it's frequently on sale for $5.00 off per case. I'll give it a try.

I would buy the lower sugar Bundaberg myself. It packs quite the sugar punch

      Whiskey and Ginger Ale.
Shasta Ginger ale is good for mixing.

Vernor's may be below your standard, but I buy it and like it with whiskey, iced tea, or lemonade. They don't really even call it ginger ale, they call it ginger soda. Probably not the ginger "kick" you're looking for.

Used to buy cases of Vernor's when we went to MIS for the races years ago.
Once and awhile I'll trip over it in a store around here, not often though.

Sadly, never heard of Blenheim's ... BUT we're quite fond of Reed's Ginger Beer except we have trouble choosing between "Extra" and "Jamaican" - available at Publix (we stock up on the rare occasion that it's on sale!) and drink it straight, no mixer

I love ginger ale and ginger beer. Fever tree and cock and bull are my go to. Never heard of this one. If I mix a drink, scotch and ginger is one of my go tos

          Sounds interesting.

Trader Joes has a good one...forget the name but it has the ceramic top with the wire- do-thingy as a top (like Grolsch Beer )

Oh yeah! I forgot about that one. The Trader Joe's brand is very good.

Nothing compares to Blenheim's it is truly awesome. Makes the absolute best Dark n Stormy you could drink. Also great by itself.

It's the only ginger ale that I've ever had that stands up to whiskey. It never has that watered-down taste endemic to other ginger ales, and ginger beers, that I've tried.

Bob's BBQ stole my thunder. I grew up in Detroit with Vernor's and it is the only ginger ale I drink to this day.

        I had to research this.

        Ginger ale vs ginger beer.

Ginger ale is ginger-flavored, artificially carbonated water without any alcohol content. Meanwhile, ginger beer is naturally fermented and brewed and is classified as non-alcoholic because it contains less than 0.5% alcohol as per FDA requirements.

Yeah...I'm not a big fan of ginger beer as a mixer...it's not bold enough to stand up to most of the whiskeys that I like. By that, I mean that they are not carbonated enough, and it makes for a flat tasting drink.
I do, however, like it by itself.
We rarely drink soda, so I don't mind buying the Reed's, in 4-packs. A case of the Bundaberg, from Costco, would probably expire before we could drink it all.

If you're in the Carolinas, you might try the "Unknown Craft" Ginger Ale. It's made right here in Charlotte, NC. www.craftgingerale.com

smokinsteve I just ordered a 12-pack of the "Unknown Craft" spicy ginger ale. Their site has free shipping. I'll circle back around and let ya know what I think about it. Thanks!

smokinsteve I received the 12 pack, but they sent an assortment, instead of the spicy that I ordered. I reached out & they told me to "keep the assortment to share with friends" and shipped a replacement with the correct ginger ale. I tried them all, and they're pretty good. Not "Blenheim" good, but good nonetheless. They're not as sweet and they add lime juice to the mix. I was surprised that I like the cranberry, which I'm usually not a big fan of. Thanks for the recommendation!
