How do you make a bourbon slush? Looks pretty good
Recipe has been in the family for years. Scoop the frozen mixture into a glass, about 2/3rds full, take a sprig of mint leaves*, slap them in your hand to release the oils, stick in in the glass, top with 7-Up or ginger ale. You can splash a little bourbon on top if you want to give it a little more kick. I always serve them in insulated cups so they don't melt too fast.
*Do not leave out the mint, if you can help it. It really makes the drink
I forgot to mention this, but, it goes without saying. Use cheap bourbon, like Ancient Age or Evan Williams Black. Leave the top-shelf stuff on the shelf.
You might! However, having made pretty much this exact recipe a bunch back in the 90's, it actually freezes to a slushy like consistency that is pretty scoop able with a metal spoon or ice cream scoop.
Last time I made a gallon, I had it in the freezer for a NYE party, for folks to pull out and grab when they wanted some, and someone perched it on a shelf precariously, and the next person to open the freezer door had the gallon bucket fall out, burst open, and slush was everywhere...
It also was the NYE party that led to one of my friend's divorces when his wife started accusing him of talking too much to one of the other ladies there. She was drunk (too much slush I guess!) and turned into a paranoid stalker in the new year. I think that was the last time I hosted any of those people at my house, haha!
