Pay no Mind it's Cocktail Time

    Here's this week's Cocktail.

    Pay It No Mind
    • ¾ oz Tropical Passionfruit Syrup
    • 1 ½ oz vodka
    • ½ oz elderflower liqueur
    • ½ oz lemon juice
    • 2-3 mint leaves
    • club soda
    Garnish: mint

I finally got some passionfruit syrup and have made quite a few Hurricanes after Old Glory shared the recipe. But I wanted to branch out and ran into this recipe which includes elderflower liqueur which is another favorite of mine.

My wife who previously found the Thai Basil Gimlet recipe that went over well at a dinner party found this recipe she was interested in making to use some of the Holy Basil we're growing.

    Talli Joe’s Holy Basil
    • 4 fresh basil leaves
    • 2 oz whisky
    • 1 ¾ oz masala tea, chilled
    • 1 ¾ oz grapefruit syrup (made 1:1 sugar with grapefruit juice)
    • ½ oz fresh lime juice
    • Prosecco to finish

Garnish: 1 sprig of basil and 1 slice grapefruit.

In case you missed it here's the Thai Basil Gimlet recipe:

    Thai Basil Gimlet
    • 6 large Thai basil leaves plus more for garnish
    • ½ ounce simple syrup
    • ¾ ounce fresh lime juice
    • 1 ½ ounces gin
    • 1 ounce St. Germain

Muddle the basil leaves, simple syrup, and lime juice. Add the rest of the ingredients with ice and shake. Double strain into a cocktail glass and Garnish with a sprig of Thai Basil.

    What will you be drinking?

That Pay No Mind looks great. I'll try one tonight. I just made a Tommy's Margarita super smooth and no orange liqueur.

2 oz SilverTequila (I used Tequila Ocho Single Estate)
    1 oz Lime Juice
    1/2 oz Agave

Shake with ice serve up or on the rocks. Feel free to salt the rim.

I like that drier ratio of 4:2:1.

Vodka, lemoncello, and club soda. Nice and bright after a heavy bbq. I may add some rosemary, and try mint on my next one.

Sounds good. I have a bunch of lemoncello and limecello I made. I should try that.

No cocktails tonight but i enjoyed the menu you have for us! I did enjoy a few ciders at a local brewery, getting to watch my 16yo nephew play two flamenco songs on his guitar during the main act intermission! Such a fun night to watch him up on stage!

now that I’m back home, sipping on a Fray Ranch bourbon while watching Ted Lasso again

    cheers all!

Muddle the mint with the syrup, add the remaining ingredients and shake withe ice. Double strain into a Collins glass filled with crushed ice and garnish with a sprig of mint.

Not surprisingly this was very good.

Nice, but complicated. I'll take three fingers of whiskey and PBR Back.

Was making Smashes last night. Strawberry, rum, simple syrup, and lime. They were very tasty. Went on a family bike ride today, only about 6 miles, but made up a Pay No Mind when we got back. Very nice! Thanks for the suggestion Attjack

Old Glory I picked up a bottle of Smith and Cross (my first time having it) and made a Hurricane with it and Plantation white 3 star rum instead of using the Plantation Pineapple Rum. I can really taste the extra alcohol from the Smith and Cross. I think I like it better the other way.
