Last Friday of the 2022 Cocktail Thread

I came back from California early than anticipated and reunited with my bar (we missed each other a lot). Here's what's on deck for this weekend. I'm going to make some scotch cocktails because I picked up a blended scotch for this purpose.

    Blood and Sand

This was at one time declared my favorite cocktail. I don't know if that's still the case, or if I could even identify a single favorite anymore, but it's time to try this one again. I also have some homemade cherry brandy I may compare and contrast with the Cherry Heering.
    • 1 oz. blended Scotch whisky
    • 1 oz. cherry liqueur or cherry brandy (like Cherry Heering)
    • ½ 1 oz. sweet vermouth
    • ½ 1 oz. blood orange juice

I'll make this just so that I can use the Fee Foam that I like so much.

    Buchanan Sour
    • 2 oz. Buchanan’s Deluxe Blended Scotch
    • 1 oz. fresh lemon juice
    • ½ oz. rich simple syrup
    • 1 egg white (or substitute)

This is one that my wife chose and how we discovered we had no scotch available for mixing.

    Rusty Nail
    • 2 ounces (4 tablespoons) Scotch whisky
    • ½ ounce (1 tablespoon) Drambuie
    What will you be drinking?

I'm abysmal at crafting cocktails so it will be my usual bourbon over frozen water. That is about the extent of my fancyness, but I will say your threads kind of get me interested in trying some of these.

Practice makes perfect until after about 7 drinks.

I mixed up a Rusty Nail Christmas Eve. Was sweeter than I imagined it would be.

You gotta like Drambuie. The drink is sweeter than an old fashioned.

At the lake house for the weekend and I don’t have the goods to get a good cocktail going so it’s just a Wellers, neat. I do have bitters, so may make a few Old Fashioneds tomorrow. But this afternoon, I Had a few ciders at the brewery, a Blood Orange and then a Biscochito Cider, which was really good!

Then we walked to the down the street and I picked up a few new to me bourbons at my favorite liquor spot - Sazerac Rye and Rittenhouse Rye 100, Bottled in Bond.

Looking forward to your cocktail photos this weekend!

Been a long week. Tonight it is Benchmark and Ginger Ale. Simple but satisfying.

I was gifted a bottle of Four Roses so at some point this weekend I'd like to continue working on developing a taste for Bourbon.
See what the lil nest a vipers sez about that....

I used Dewer's instead of Buchanan’s and probably made up the part about the egg white and yet this was quite good.

Digging through the stash of stuff over at my parent’s lake house, and pulled this stuff out. Reminded me of some of the bottles of stuff you have used.

going to have to pull up that site you sent me and see what can be made with this stuff!

Galliano. I'm curious to hear what you'll make with it. There's a couple of cream based drinks listed on drinkboy.

Attjack that’s what I found as well. My mom says she remembers Harvey Wallbanger’s being popular in the 70s and this was one of the added ingredients. Kind of alike a fancy screwdriver.

I don’t think we have the ingredients for the drinkboy cocktails, but I think we have orange juice, so I’ll see about making a Harvey Wallbanger!

Lake life and enjoying the warmer sun - given it’s about 60*, which is pretty nice with unfiltered sun.

But sitting out and enjoying these!
