    Final Cocktail Friday Thread?

    Final Cocktail Friday Thread?

Maybe so, at least for this year, unless I end up doing them down at the cabin.I'll be there until January.

My wife brought home a bag of red grapefruits so I used my Sunkist juicer to convert them to juice.

Since then I have taken a liking to this cocktail that I have been making with rye since I'm fresh out of Scotch:

    Grapefruit Collins

    2 oz. scotch whisky
1.5 oz. grapefruit juice, freshly squeezed
.5 oz. lemon juice, freshly squeezed
    .5 oz. simple syrup
    3 dashes Peychaud’s bitters
    1 egg white
    Club soda, chilled, to top
    Garnish: grapefruit twist

I have been subbing the egg white for 4 dashes of Fee Foam That I mentioned in last week's thread. I think the stuff is great. So the next cocktail on the list today will also use Fee Foam.

    Amaretto Sour

    1.5 oz.amaretto liqueur
    .75 oz.cask-proof bourbon
1 oz. lemon juice, freshly squeezed
    1 teaspoon rich simple syrup
    .5 oz. egg white
    Garnish: lemon twist
    Garnish: 2 brandied cherries

The final cocktail is an original unless you can find this recipe being used somewhere else (I have not(. I'll need to get some more orgeat if I'm going to make this one though as I am out.

    December Daiquiri

    2 oz dark rum
    .5 oz rich simple syrup
    .5 oz lime
    ,25 oz orgeat

    What will you be drinking?

      Good call on the Toddy.

That grapefruit collins sounds good! How is the scotch whiskey that you use? Is it neutral for a scotch whiskey or petey?

For me, I decided to give the Espresso Martini a try again since I had the coffee saccharum I made a few weeks back. It’s good, but I used decaf espresso and didn’t pull a good shot, so the espresso is off a little. But, better than the first martini I tried!

Well, I used rye whiskey. I usually buy sipping scotch so I may need to figure out what to buy for mixing. The wife just made a great drink that she's calling the Bison Biter. It's a Rusty Nail but with Buffalo Trace instead of scotch and it's tasty. She is good at coming up with drinks.

BTW, I like the new outfit.

I've been out of scotch for a while. Been drinking bourbon and rye and as you may have noticed, I've been on a cocktail kick. But I really should have one for sipping and one for mixing at the least.

Blended scotch for mixing, single malt or vatted malt for sipping. For me that means Johnny walker red or dewars for mixing, and The MacAllan 18 for sipping.

I picked up some things. Nothing fancy. Lots of whiskey.

I went for the Templeton Rye because they did not have the Wild Turkey Rye I had planned to buy and because I got those 2 glasses with the bottle. They were also out of Buffalo Tracee so i got Wild Turkey Bourbon which i think is quite good. Behind the glasses is Cointreau and a Trader Vick's orgeat that I'm hoping is better than the last orgeat I had which I did like even thought was nothing fancy. I tasted the scotch and I like it. I could sip it so I know it'll be great in cocktails.

I broke from my normal Blue Ice vodka on a chilly night... I have 3/4 cup very hot chocolate, 12oz shot of egg nog, and 2oz peppermint rum chata, not that it would take much to warm the frozen cockles of my heart... Nice warm soothing mixture Christmasy mixture on a cold night.

            Yum!!

I drink egg nog once a year and that time is coming up. Not sure why I don’t drink it more often because I like it.

            But this drink sounds excellent!
