The Singapore Sling
The Singapore Sling is one of those wonderful drinks that we probably have all heard of, but perhaps have never had. And because this recipe is often incorrectly recorded in most recipe books, even if you've think you've had it, you probably haven't.
One of the key, and often overlooked ingredients in this drink is Benedictine. While the resultant flavor is not overly predominate, it does add a certain flavor profile that would be totally missing without this secret ingredient.
None dispute that the Singapore Sling was originally created by Mr. Ngiam Tong Boon for the Raffles Hotel in Singapore. However that is where the agreements end. The exact date is in question, with some people claiming it was in 1915, some 1913, while the hotel itself claims that it was created sometime prior to 1910. There is also plenty of disagreement as to how closely the current version of this drink that is served at Raffles is to what was originally served. Apparently the original recipe was lost and forgotten sometime in the 1930's, and the drink that they currently serve at the hotel's Long Bar (see recipe below) is based on memories of former bartenders, and some written notes that they were able to discover.
Scotch: Current favorite- The Arran (anything by them), Glenmorangie 12yr Lasanta, sherry cask finished. The Balvenie Double Wood, also like Oban 18yr, and The Glenlivet Nadurra (Oloroso sherry cask finished) among others. Neat please.

Thanks for sharing! Can you post these cocktail recipes that you're sharing as a standalone recipe with the drink's name in the title? It would be much easier to find them later on this way.
I just got back from the liquor store. Every time I go there a new around-the-town buddy has started working there! I picked up some Four Roses, Wild Turkey 101, a handle of Monopolowa Vodka, Tanqueray, and pineapple juice. The latter 2 are for today's first cocktail. I also got some cherries and a pineapple for garnish.
This recipe, developed by Nitehawk Cinema‘s Beverage Director Jen Marshall, was inspired by the Oscar-nominated film Hugo. The magical sophistication of elderflower, citrus, and green chartreuse mirrors Hugo’s and Isabella’s enchanting quest through 1930’s Paris.
Attjack In Paprika, open the recipe, export it and make sure you choose to save it in Paprika format. Once you've exported the file, use the Upload Pic button but select the .paprikarecipes file.
fzxdoc It did not add all categories from Attjack or rickgregory. It added the categories associate with each of the recipes. "Drinks" when I downloaded the 2 Drinks Combined and "Gin" when I downloaded the Singapore Sling. Nothing else was changed.
fzxdocOld Glory - the file contains category info if you export a category or if you export a single recipe that has been assigned a category. It will only import the categories assigned to a recipe, nothing else.
If you import an exported category it adds the recipes and the category but you can drag and drop the recipes out of it into yours.
I don't see most of us sharing categories here, I just wanted to test it. It would be useful if you wanted to share, say, all of your BBQ recipes with a friend who was using Paprika but for what we do here, most of us will share a single recipe.
Also, Kathryn, my categories are GREAT!
