    Salt to Enhance Beer

I add salt to beer and been doing that for years, although not needed for PBR.

Salt is added to beer primarily to enhance flavor by reducing bitterness, boosting malt sweetness, and highlighting subtle notes, while also having cultural and sensory effects.

    Flavor Enhancement
Adding a small pinch of salt to beer can soften bitternessand bring out malt sweetness, making the beer taste more balanced and enjoyable. Sodium ions interact with taste buds, reducing the activation of certain bitter receptors and allowing flavors like caramel, bread-like grains, and subtle fruit notes to become more noticeable. This effect is similar to how salt enhances the flavor of many foods, acting as a flavor amplifier rather than just adding saltiness.

I forgot to state I pull this off the internet. My wife read to me an article about salt in beer.
    My Bad.

I guess this explains why beer and BBQ go together!

I did that back when I used to drink beer. It seemed to work well if the beer was a little bitter, flat or had tomato juice in it.

Salt on the napkin keeps the beer glass from sticking.

Salt in the beer revives flat beer head.

Remember to always add salt by weight, or we have learned nothing from AmazingRibs.

My dad would often put a bit of Johnny's seasoned salt on his can of Oly's. I still do that on occasion with lighter, factory beers.

(ETA: been here for years but I think this is my first post)

Hey good to hear from you!

I looked up the Johnny's seasoned salt website and they are all sold out.

A pinch of salt and squeeze of lime is the best with a Mexican lager! 🍻🌮🍻

Pop the cap off a Corona and fill the void in the neck with tequila, thumb over the top and invert once to mix, take a swig then add a slice of lime = Baja Fog. 3 or 4 of those and one fully understands why it's so named.

I like a couple green olives and some of the juice poured in for flavor. Sometimes a touch of Zing Zang will help spice things up. Have fun!
