I was expecting Corona not Modolo Especial. Interesting. I wonder how much of the increase was due to Corona’s unfortunate name with the events of the last few years.

I would suggest that Modelo is just a better tasting Corona, on top of that I've seen many more places with Modelo on draft in the last year and many folks will opt for a draft beer vs a bottle when given a choice. I've only seen Corona on tap at 2 places, ever.

I had never heard of Modolo until 2-3 years ago, didn't mind it.
Never buy Corona anyway 24 bottles is $53.95 up here, too rich for my blood.

Interesting article.
The author brings up an interesting fact that has plagued the brewing industry up here in Canada, buyouts by international beer conglomerates.
AB gobbled up Labatts decades ago then was eaten by AB AmBev.
Molson and Coors entered a partnership then joined StarBev ultimately answering to Miller SPA in South Africa.
In the end off shore ownership has taken over North American brewery ownership.
Disclaimer: I haven't been at MolsonCoors for 10-12 years now so things may/most have most likely changed in that time so my info may not be entirely up to date.

Interesting article. I never heard of InBev before the recent Bud Light debacle. Bud Light has been slowly losing customers for years (as have almost all beers), but certainly their recent ad campaign caused a massive drop. But those customers went to Coors or Miller, so it didn’t impact the overall beer market, just shifted allegiances.
It also surprised me how much beer Mexico imports into the U.S. That is staggering.

I was sitting in a tavern a couple weeks ago. A few guys were complaining about the Bud Light marketing campaign--they were drinking Bud, and when I looked down the bar, all but one person was drinking an AB product (mostly Busch Light). I did notice though that the same bar had Bud Light on special this last weekend.

I would saw many beer drinkers didn't shift allegiances but left the game all together.
Beer has been losing market share to other alcoholic beverages for decades now to an abundance of other forms of liquid fun.
And that's not even counting the female drinkers who could care less about beer.

Weber Summit Charcoal Grill Center
Weber Summit Platinum D6
Blue Rhino Razor
Dyna-Glo XL Premium Dual Chamber
Camp Chef Somerset IV along with their Artisan Pizza Oven 90
Anova WiFi
Thermometers
Thermapen Mk4 - ThermaQ High Temp Kit - ThermaQ Meathead Kit - ThermaQ WiFi - ThermoWorks IR-GUN-S - ThermoWorks Signals & Billows - ThermoPop -ThermoWorks ProNeedle - ThermoWorks TimeStick Trio x2 - and a Christopher Kimball timer - NO, I do not work for ThermoWorks...I just like their products.
Other useful bits...
KitchenAid 7-qt Pro Line stand mixer
A Black & Decker food processor that I can't seem to murder
A couple of immersion blenders, one a "consumer" model & the other a "high end" Italian thing. Yes, the Italian one is a bit better, but only marginally
Instant Pot Duo Evo Plus 8-qt + accessories like egg-bite & egg holders
All-Clad pots & pans, along with some cast iron...everything from 7" Skookie pans to 8.5qt Dutch ovens
Weber GBS griddle, pizza stone, and wok
Knives range from Mercer to F. Dick to "You spent how much for one knife? One knife?!" LOL
Interesting…and ironically most of them are terrible. LOL
I would have never guessed the origins of most imports. Mexico was easy because in SoCal it’s everywhere. But some of the others..? O_o
The only Modelo that I’ll occasionally drink is Negra Modelo. And even then it’s only because I’m out somewhere and the bartender is clueless.
About the only time that I’ll drink Especial, Corona, or Pacifico is when it’s the only thing available at a golf course…and then I’ll limit myself big time. The rest I avoid like the plague.
