Good barbecue is pretty hard to come by out here in Seattle, but I finally got around to trying the Raney Brothers BBQ food truck that's sometimes near my office, and I was very impressed. I got a brisket sandwich, which I believe is a special rather than a regular menu item, and I will definitely be going back to sample their flagship pulled pork sometime soon. The brisket was perfectly cooked in my opinion - bark that provided just the right amount of chewiness, tender, juicy meat, and some fat still left on to provide richness. Nice smoke ring too, for what it's worth.
I got it with their spicy barbecue sauce, and although I am a devotee of spicy foods, I may go with the regular sauce next time, as I found the spiciness distracted from the flavor a bit. It wasn't excessive by any means, just didn't complement the flavor well to my taste.
The sandwich came on a good ciabatta bun with a tangy coleslaw and, surprisingly, some cheese as well. I was a bit worried about the cheese, but I found that I couldn't really taste it, and that it's main contribution was texture and some richness, so it didn't hurt.
