Scoot's BBQ and Wing Demo at Ace Hardware- Gloucester, Va

I was traveling through Gloucester County this afternoon and decided to stop and get lunch at Scoot's BBQ. I have been there a couple of times before and it has always been really good.

I went with the 1/2 rack of St. Louis Ribs with Hushpuppies and I added Brunswick Stew. It was all really good, the ribs were a little more fall off the bone than I like but that is personal preference. They are dry ribs with a good flavor. I tried their sauces and found the regular sauce and the chipotle sauce to be a little too smoky for my tastes.

All in all I highly recommend them. Also, I saw a tray of freshly fried chicken that looked wonderful; the fried shrimp might also be on my list to try in the future. Finally, if you are in the area and want to try their BBQ but are with non-BBQ eaters (I hear people like this exist) the owners also have a 2nd restaurant near Gloucester Courthouse called Olivia's that has Scoot's BBQ on the menu.

After leaving Scoot's I stopped by the recently opened Horn's Ace Hardware where David from Ham Squad competition team was doing a Wing Demo this afternoon. I really enjoyed chatting with him for a bit. I didn't get any pictures inside the store but they have a very impressive supply of Rubs, Sauces, Grills, Smokers, Accessories, etc...

Talk to them...It is my understanding that the BBQ and Grilling space is a big thing for Ace. So maybe if they know there is interest in stuff like this they may do it.

The guy doing the demo said the store is planning more demos and possibly even hosting classes. The owner of this store owns 4 other Ace stores and this one seems to have the largest BBQ and Grilling section. So he has likely seen the popularity of the BBQ and Grilling items...

Small town here, who knows. Our Ace used to be a True Value, just converted. I did notice yesterday they had tons of rubs and sauces. I didn't have time to look them over but will next time. I do know the owner, I'll speak with him. Thanks.

    Thanks for sharing!
We've driven by Scoot's for years, when visiting family down in Va. Beach, and have always meant to stop in, but never have.
Your post has inspired us to actually stop in and eat there.
