Traveling to Texas -- Looking for a "you cannot miss" this place...

I will be in the Plano/Richardson area next week. I am only there for two days. Any place(s) that I just cannot miss? I will have a rental car, so a little drive is not out of the question...

Hutchins BBQ in McKinney is a good spot.

I ate at the new Hutchins in Arlington last week. I had burnt ends, slaw and a Texas twinkie All very good. Plus I did have the self serve banana pudding and apple cobbler for desert.

Hutchins is good. There is also Hurtado BBQ, they have three locations and the closest to Plano is in Downtown Dallas.

When I lived in Plano in the 70s and 80s we ate at Spring Creek BBQ in Richardson a lot - it was the only BBQ around. Its located on Central Expressway. Spring Creek is good but its not going to knock your socks off.

2nd Hurtado. The quail and Texas Twinkie will not disappoint

I don't know how good it is these days, but if you want to completely empty out your wallet, Rick's Chop House will be happy to accommodate you. 🥩💰💵😳
We were fairly broke and driving around with some friends who were moving to the area and we stopped there. It was so pricey, my very large husband ordered a salad. 😆

Actually, now that I am thinking about it. I think it might have been Bob's Chop House. This was a couple decades ago. Either way, Bob's was too much for us at the time. I think Rick's is up there in price too, but I couldn't say if either is worth it.
Anyway, good luck. Let us know if you find a good restaurant in the area.

Its Bob's. Remind me to tell you the story about my mom when I took her there for her birthday. That and the time I took one of my salesmen and his wife there as part of an incentive he won. Carolyn

As long as you don’t have kids with you who want you to buy the whole store that you must walk past to get to those beauties.

They are clean and Buc-ee's doesn't care if you carry your Cocker Spaniel through the store and into the bathroom.

I’m with Purc with Cattleack being a good choice and Oak Smoke is not leading you astray with Hutchins BBQ in McKinney.

There is a pretty cool restaurant and music venue in Plano called Love and War in Texas. You might need a reservation.

I haven't been there in 20 years but it was really good the time I went. I just checked the menu, it has changed, They used to have quail and antelope, now the only game I see is wild boar.

Part ranch house dining, part iconic music venue, and part Hill Country hangout, Love & War is more than a restaurant - it's a Texas experience. From buffalo steaks to brisket, from...

I'm gonna be in McKinney on Sunday delivering a smoker - maybe Hurtado should be the meetup spot. lol

In Plano, Twisted Root Burgers is a cool spot. Lots of interesting offerings, good stuff. They prolly have more around the metro now, too.

Fairly sure that it’s against the law to drive through Texas and not get at least one of their “world famous” burritos. ;-)
