"Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy." ~Benjamin Franklin
I've eaten at The Auslander and it was very good. I got the Jagerschnitzel with spaetzel and a good German beer.
If you need a place to stay I've stayed here 3 times. Its been in the same family since 1853, five miles due west of the HEB:

The cabin was originally a dog trot that was also the community bakery for the area. It has been built in and modernized but still has the old charm. My only complaint is that the stove is electric and not gas.I woke up one morning and there were 17 deer in the back pasture behind the house.Last edited by 58limited; December 27, 2025, 04:45 PM.

My wife and I went to Fredericksburg last February for our anniversary. The restaurants we ate in didn’t leave enough of an impression for me to remember them. The most important advice is that you have to be very patient because it’s a tourist town and will be busy. Crowded streets, sidewalks, restaurants and shops.
Finally, nearby is Luckenbach where the biggest attraction may be to say that you’ve been there.
All that said, the Museum of the Pacific War was the reason we went there and it was excellent. Well worth the hours you’ll spend to see it all.
