    Goldee’s in Fort Worth

What can I say, it’s a previous #1 in Texas Monthly, now the #3. Waited in line for about 2h20mins, dodged some rain showers. Was able to sample everything on the menu. By far the best thing was the hatch chile sausage. Brisket is worth the hype, I get why it’s rated so high. Choice grade and to be that succulent is impressive. Maybe it helps they dunk it in a little tallow before serving…

Sausage: regular (black pepper & garlic forward) tasted reheated. Hatch chile with Monterey Jack was out of this world, best on the menu. Jalapeño cheddar, was good, but Hatch has me wishing I got more.
Brisket: Dang, they know what they’re doing. Worth the wait. Terrific bark, moist both lean and fatty cuts. Great smoke flavor.
Beef rib: wonderful pull, not too tough, not fall off the bone.
Turkey: just ok, good not great.
Pork belly: the peach dip accompanying it made this delectable.
Brisket beans: best pintos I’ve ever had. Would have loved them with some cornbread.
Banana pudding: just meh, no bananas in there.
homemade loaf bread: amazing, light and fluffy. But holds up with various meats.

Highly recommend. They are super nice and accommodating. Bring a chair.

Reviews are tough on a phone, will see if I can spruce this up when I get to a puter.

That looks amazing! The bark on that beef rib is incredible. The owner of Redbird BBQ, no. 4 on the list and located here in my area, trained there for a year and a half before opening his place.

Nice write up and pics! The food looks great, you’ve got me wanting to try them out one day. Couple of questions……you said you waited 2 hours and 20 minutes, what time did you get there? Did they open at 11 and start letting people in then? What day of the week did you go? TIA!

They open at 11am sharp (at least on Friday). We got there around 8:30ish. They have chairs, some have seen better days. They only let a bunch in at the time and are pretty efficient. I thought the line moved well.

Thanks for the great write up and the pics. I have not been to Goldee's yet even though they are just 15 miles away because of the amount of time in line but It's on the list for us to try. I will probably never go to Franklins either due to wait time.

I'll gladly enjoy Burger King before I stand in line for 30 minutes for anything.

Goldee’s about the same distance from my house. Only been there once, but it was worth the wait. Arrived about 8:30on Saturday morning, placed order at 12:00. Best brisket I have had and I have eaten great brisket all over Texas. Bread is the best as well.
My son in law was with me - he went to high school with the owners so it was like a mini reunion at the counter. Really nice guys.

Great review! That 2 hour 20 minute reminds me of why I haven’t been there yet. But, it sounds like that is shorter than when they were #1. It is still on my go to list.

Sunny, maybe next month sometime, on a Saturday? I’m game for another road trip.

I generally don’t like waiting in line for anything, especially the older I get. But it was an experience, we planned for it and enjoyed hanging out and meeting new folks. Surprised how cool the weather was, my opinion on the wait might be different if it was hot.
