Ant's BBQ Profiles Texas Monthly's No. 5 Pick: GW's BBQ in the Valley
Another great production from Ant's. GW's BBQ in located in the Valley in San Juan, Tx. near McAllen and Edinburg. They make traditional Texas BBQ along with some innovative additions: strawberry cobbler, charro lentils, pork belly fried rice, etc. Looks like a great place,a long distance for me to drive but if we ever do a South Texas Meat-Up they should definitely be on our list. https://www.gwsbbqco.com/
Until I retired I was in that area often. We had an office in Pharr TX. There’s some great food in that area. There’s a Mexican sea food restaurant there that is by far the best sea food I’ve ever had. The fisherman’s platter was huge and wonderful! The waiters are in tuxedo and tie but my it’s good. There’s also some of the best Chinese food I’ve ever had in the area. Every weekday morning a lady would pull up in front of our shop and open here trunk. There would be hot steaming bowls of several ingredients that she could make you an incredible breakfast burrito from. I’ve not had BBQ there but to compete you have to turn out great food. There are orchards of lemon and lime trees at the edge of town. That area would be a great place to meet, There’s a decent airport in McAllen.
