My boy’s buddy went to the Salt Lick in San Antonio and wrote up a review that made me chuckle. I’ve had my kid write stuff up for you all before because I trust his tastes and he gets around. Before daring to post this, I wanted to see if any other members vouched for the place and found that it seems to have been recommended by gcdmd a few times. I will try to solicit photos, as well. From my son’s friend and best man, Jordan Lyons:
Upon entering the Salt Lick BBQ in Austin, Texas, I was skeptical about quality of meat at an all you can eat joint. Contrary to my original suspicions, I was pleasantly surprised and delighted after my first bite into the pork ribs. The ribs were tender and full of flavor. The house made BBQ sauce enhanced the experience nicely. The beef brisket was another successful undergoing as the bold beef flavor profile seemed to embody my vision of Texas BBQ.
As for sides and desert, I found the mac and cheese a bit uninteresting. The double berry cobbler was also lacking as the crust/berry ratio wildly favored the berries, leading to a desire for more crust in each bite. Overall, a great experience at the Salt Lick, I hope to return soon.
