    Windy City Eatz Soul Food

Chattanooga. This place opened recently so I decided to give them a shot. I'm glad I did. I had chicken and dressing, black eyed peas and cabbage. I rarely eat cabbage but one of the patrons recommended it, and the young lady working there told me the chicken and dressing was her favorite. The food was excellent. I think the black eyed peas were from a can, but whatever seasonings they used made them great. The chicken and dressing was a little salt heavy to me, but I am pretty sensitive to salt so I am sure it was just me, but even with that it was excellent. But the cabbage - oh my!!! That cabbage was the best I have ever tasted. I mean I really liked it. Cabbage!!! The order also includes a small cup of cranberry sauce - the kind from a can, but I love canned cranberry sauce - and a sweet, Jiffy tasting muffin. Anyway, I’ll be a regular customer of theirs. If you are in the area, give them a try.

Looks really good! What do you think they did with the cabbage to make it so good? I made some last night and it was ok, but not great.

Went back today for lunch. Italian beef. I got it dry and asked for the dip on the side, and I got the spicy Giardiniera. I got it to go and they forgot the dip, but man was it good without it. And huge. They are 2 for 2 with me.

I'd like to go there when I come to Chattanooga and we get to go to McDonald's when the McRib comes back!

For my latest installment of i want to eat everything on the menu, I give you pot roast with mashed potatoes, mixed greens and fried okra. The pot roast and mashed potatoes almost brought me to tears. The okra looked like it was hand breaded. The greens... these people can cook.

Next installment - wings and cabbage. I think the wings were those frozen wing ding things, but whatever they did made them the best wing dings I have had. They must have re-seasoned them and the fry on them was spot on. Just perfect. And the cabbage was still the best I have had. My sides were 2 orders of cabbage. I swear I am not a part owner lol

You are going to put on more weight than Purc did at the last Meat Up! LOL Those servings look like a meal for two. It reminds me of a Chinese place here in Dallas that will feed four.

Man oh man that looks so good! If I ever pass through your area I'm callin' you for a Minnie Meat Up there.

Kevin, my friend, you must come to the next Lafayette Meat-Up, whenever that will be, and go to Laura's II.

Been a minute but I have been back a couple times. I have been raving about them, but I hit a couple of snags. The first one was when I ordered ribs. I knew I should have passed, but... They were not good. The only thing I tasted was the sauce they had smothered them with. And they were pretty tough. No pics for these.

Next I had the meat loaf. Not thinking I got potato salad and fried okra. The meat loaf came on a bed of mashed potatoes - duh! Potato overload. The meat loaf was good, but I should have got gravy instead of the red sauce. I'm pretty sure the red sauce was the same BBQ sauce that was on the ribs. Way too sweet. The potato salad was pretty good, and the okra is always always good. Still one of my favorite places, but no more ribs lol
