I of course love smoked meats of all kinds, but also like quick cooks like chicken portions, pork tenderloins, steak and fish. Really into cooking of all kinds.
My outdoor kitchen has a Lone Star Grillz Adjustable and it is wonderful. There also is a Pit Boss 5 Burner Ultimate Griddle and a Pit Boss Copperhead pellet grill.
There is an outdoor fire pit that has grilling capability and limited Santa Maria-style grill raising and lowering.

+1 on Gus's chicken. I liked the BBQ Shop and Interstate BBQ. My oldest spent 3 yrs in law school in Memphis. Just be careful of where you are, it is rough. Maybe it is better now.Last edited by Purc; November 17, 2024, 01:18 PM.

texastweeter there are areas in Memphis I won't even go armed. It has been a few years - I have family there - but I don't think it has changed much.

Jim, I would hop in the car right now and drive seven hours to Memphis to eat at Cozy Corner Bar-B-Q. It's a mom and pop establishment and they do Memphis style ribs. Sides are amazing as well as the other BBQ offerings.

Okay, we went all in on the the expected for our free day in Memphis. First, a little sightseeing.
And of course, Rendevous. Such an iconic place. The vibe once you go through the alley and down into the basement takes you back to 1948, when it opened.
They are set up very efficiently. Menu is under the clear tabletop.
The ribs are of course dry rub only and are grilled direct over charcoal. They were fine. The brisket was solid. Lisa’s pulled pork sandwich was also good. But the slaw and beans were spectacular!
Definitely a solid meal in a bucket list location. We wandered around Beale Street a bit afterwards, but we’re old and have a very early flight tomorrow, so we headed back to the hotel early.
