Scotch: Current favorite- The Arran (anything by them), Glenmorangie 12yr Lasanta, sherry cask finished. The Balvenie Double Wood, also like Oban 18yr, and The Glenlivet Nadurra (Oloroso sherry cask finished) among others. Neat please.

ecowperbillg71 yep, agreed! The article says how they arrive at these ratings. They factor in total number of reviews, and number of positive reviews, and only those places that have 100+ positive reviews. So clearly, part of what makes a BBQ joint or a state "best" (for this list) is the number of people who decided to log into TripAdvisor and leave a review, lol not very scientific. I'm pretty sure every single state has an amazing real bbq joint or two, or ten. I know a couple great ones in MI (and there's likely many I've not discovered yet) but I think that's the very last thing we're known for.
Joes in KC is a solid joint. They are pretty consistent.
But when I take out of towners out for KC bbq I take them to Slaps (squeal like a pig) bbq. It's a small but growing hole in the wall with outstanding food. They do well in competition too.
