I have been to quite a few of these. Mostly the spots in TX and KC. They are all really goodf. What is really cool about them is they all have their own feel. Smitty's in Lockhart is one of the coolest restaurants I have ever been too. (I think Lockhart, TX should be on the register of historic places given its cultural impact that is classic Texas BBQ.) LC's in KC is as old school as BBQ gets and it is an awesome experience if you are a BBQ guy. Same with Arthur Bryants.
La Barbecue, Valentinas and Interstellar are not on here is surprising. Also, Hometown BBQ in Brooklyn is also a great BBQ spot that I think should have made the list.
Spinaker it's good, I've only been there I think twice because it's the wrong way from anything but it's about as mom and pop as you can get in these parts
The Main Problem with this "Top 50"--Oregon was left out.
That is just not right, we have Famous Dave's, and Buster's BBQ, and the McRib when available!
And of course, my backyard.

Sadly, FL has one entry, and the pic does not look great. The sausage is pork and gator? Gator is best with a citrus brine to tenderize, then deep fried. Smoked fish can be had virtually anywhere in FL, so that is no special treat. Seems they are trying too hard to be different. Even Dr. BBQ closed in downtown St. Pete closed after a couple of years. Apparently, we have no traditional pit BBQ culture here except the folks in the back yard, and next to the gas stations. 😂
I’ve been to all the one’s mentioned in AL. Big Bob’s is, well, Big Bob’s. Their chicken is consistently their best seller with the unique (& original) white sauce. I find myself usually going for wings or brisket at the Danville Rd location. I stick to ribs and chxn at the 6th Ave spot. Dreamland is known for hot/fast ribs, so we usually stick to that. And the white bread, gotta have that. Don’t forget your Lipitor…….
The best I've had was Burnt Bean at the meet up a couple years ago. That brisket was what I aspire to. I have been to Peg Leg but I wasn't that impressed. I keep trying to go to Fox Brothers, but the crowds throw me off, and the parking isn't that great. Been to Dreamland and Charlie Vergo's (both pretty good). I spend a fair amount of time in NC and SC for work, so I am going to save this list.
Amazingly. I have never been to Bob Gibson's, even though I worked at Browns Ferry several different times.
Of course, somebody else's best won't impress us cause we all know they can't hold a candle to our q. Except the Burnt Bean brisket lol
klflowers couple of years ago? It was 11 months ago to be exact, Oct. 2022’ …… And I agree, Burnt Bean was some of the best brisket I’ve had, top 2 or 3 for sure.
I am sure the ratings are the result of personal preference and maybe maybe an off day at a BBQ joint. I have eaten at a few, and I would say they were good. However, I don’t have much confidence in the rankings because of some of the joints at which I have eaten. My other comment is I have eaten at some places recommended by Southern Living a number of years ago and was mostly unimpressed. In fact one of the places served the worst BBQ I have ever eaten, but maybe that is just personal preference.
