Large Big Green Egg, Weber Performer Deluxe, Weber Smokey Joe Silver, Fireboard Drive, 3 DigiQs, lots of Thermapens, and too much other stuff to mention.
It’s going to be highly franchise specific. We had one nearby. The food was okay, the location was terrible. Everything was weighed, but not sold by the pound; weighed like Subway weighed. A pulled pork sandwich weighed such-and-such, and they’d pull a little off or add a little on. That kind of thing.
They lasted about a year or so. But really that was because of the terrible location, with no highway visibility. It probably would have stuck around otherwise.
If I were to rate them on a 1-5 scale, the would be a very low 3 or high 2 at best. It would probably vary from franchise. They might pass if you wanted it as an alternative to fast food or just wanted to say you had BBQ. The saying goes. is tha the best BBQ is in someone’s backyard. The places that score 4.5+ do with hundreds of briskets what you do with one in your backyard.
bbqLuv Expect massive doses of mediocrity. I ate at one about 3 years ago and here’s what I thought about them. Luckily they’re reasonably priced. Maybe you could try them out and report back what you thought.
The recent post from Ghawtho and his experience eating at a Dickey’s Barbecue Pit [as they’re named] got me to thinking. Could it really be that bad? It’s been decades since I’d eaten at one and I honestly don’t remember how it was, good or bad. If you’re not familiar with Dickey’s, they’re a chain of BBQ restaurants across the

We had a Dickey's franchise once. I tried it and was disappointed in both the food and the service. However, since every place can have an off day I tried it a second time after they had been open for a few months and had time to work out kinks. The second time the service was acceptable but the food was still really bad. The brisket was dry and way over-salted. The pulled pork was tasteless unless one put BBQ sauce on it. My thoughts on BBQ sauce are, it's great if that's how you enjoy your BBQ but it shouldn't be required in order to make the food taste good. Dickey's last about two years here before it shutdown and moved on.
