Portland's 2025 'Wiener Week' features $8 dogs all week long

    Keeping Portland Wired

PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland's Wiener Week is among us, featuring $8 dogs all across the metro area from Jan. 27 to Feb. 2. Over 40 restaurants are participating in this year's Portland Mercury food celebration, with creative creations like a fondue-covered corn dog, kimchi queso topping and a Vietnamese-style banh mi hot dog.

$1.59 each with mustard, chili, and onions at Abe’s in Mountain Top. All you gotta do is fly cross country.

Wow... them better be some serious dogs for $8. That's more than state fair prices - and that's like... a special deal there??? No wonder I don't live in Portland.

Yeah but the doctors makes $350,000/year to offset the hotdog prices.

But it’s a “festival” experience. And it’s not about the hot dog, it’s about the way people bastardize the hot dog.

Ever see an episode of Portlandia? 🤣😜🤣😜 it’s all a parody.

2 dola dogs n a buck ice cream. Hail yeah!
P.S. they never have 12 oz cans so you get 16oz for three $$$

Wish I was up in Portland for this. Love going to Fairs like this and enjoying the local flavors.

          A Chicago-style hot dog is $5.29 at Portillo’s.

I am happy to pay a premium for a super-custom burger but paying a massive premium over Portillo’s for a hot dog seems less exciting.

I am not quite sure why I have this apathy towards hot dog week when I look forward to burger week every year. Maybe Attjack knows the answer.

Dumpling week is coming up next. I'm looking forward to that considerably more than wiener week.

After reading a post from Oak Smoke about realhousemoms.com and now wiener week I am wondering what this place is turning into. A den of iniquity?

            Really? You have to wonder.

I dunno. $8 is steep for a hotdog, unless it’s wrapped in 18k gold foil… or is massively huge. I am sure they are good dogs, just saying….

I think $8 for an incredible dog would be worth it!

Costco food court. Jumbo hot dog and a large soft drink. $1.50. Great doggies too. About 3 miles from me. Just saying.

It's a drag that they don't have onions.

I tried for 3 last night but 1 was sold out and another place was so packed we couldn't get a table. This was the Sweet Home Chili Dog and I give it a 6.5 (it could have been hotter) and a Weiner Week friend gave it 7+.

But….. were they Vienna Brand Hot Dogs? These are my jams. S.A.N.F.O.R.D. Period.

And let the hot dog wars begin…..not to be confused with beans in chili or ketchup on whatever….😜

They are my favorites. We have a funky little hot dog stand nearby that has the best dogs. Every time I stop in I tell myself to order something different but I always end up with the Chicago dog with sport peppers.

Depends on the restaurant. Wiener Week is sponsored by Zenners Sausage Company but not all of them are using that local supplier.

Well, I'm right on time - tonight I'll be grilling us hot dogs for dinner, first time I can cook outside again since we had all that snow, finally got warm enough temps to melt the snow from my cooker deck. Not a moment too soon!

We had a 3 dog night yesterday.

The first dog was at an upscale restaurant called ClarkLewis. The dog was called the Gourmet Ghost Pepper but did not deliver on the heat, however the flavor was excellent. I had a Kolsch to wash it down. 8.5/10

House made bratwurst, pretzel bun, Cascade Natural beef chili, ghost pepper cheddar, fresh onions

What They Say About It: Inspired by Chef's childhood growing up in Southern California where Wienerschnitzel was a weekly stop.

Then we walked across the street to Bunk Bar for a Chorizo Chili Dog. I really liked the texture provided by the tortilla strips. The flavors were good, but I found the bun a little softer than I might have wanted. I ordered an old-fashioned to drink. 7/10

Zenners old fashioned frank, chorizo chili, avocado crema, queso Oaxaca, cilantro, pickled onions & jalapenos, crispy tortilla strips

What They Say About It: A Mexican twist on the American classic. A snappy old fashioned frank, savory chorizo chili, with pickley, cheesey crunchy and fresh toppings.

Then we walked through the restaurant to the adjoining Boke Bowl which I have been wanting to check out for quite some time. I still need to go back for their regular food which consists of fried chicken, ramen, poke, and stuff like that. This dog was a house made chicken sausage, which is not typically my favorite because I feel chicken sausage tends to lack flavor, and that was the case here. However, the toppings and house made hot sauces went a long way to raise their score to 8/10. I ordered a Jim Beam neat and a Pilsner. To my surprise, the girl working the counter also gave us a whiskey and ginger she had mistakenly made, on the house.

House smoked chicken sausage, Dos Hermanos bun, kimchi slaw, smoked chili crunch aioli, crispy shallots

What They Say About It: Our sausage dog is inspired by our most popular seasonal ramen, the spicy chicken miso. We house-make and smoke all of our own sausages. For wiener week, we are using a Dos Hermanos local bun with our house kimchi slaw, chili crunch aioli, and crispy shallots. Pro Tip: order with a combo to get a side of our famous crispy Brussels Sprouts.
