BBQ Or Other Good Restaurants In SE New York State or Northern PA?
Next month I plan to be in the Fishkill, NY area, which if you're unfamiliar is roughly halfway between NYC and Albany, on the SE side of the state. Does anyone have any good BBQ or other eatery recommendations for this area? Also anything noteworthy from central NY State westward across northern PA? I do not plan to visit New York City.
Large Big Green Egg, Weber Performer Deluxe, Weber Smokey Joe Silver, Fireboard Drive, 3 DigiQs, lots of Thermapens, and too much other stuff to mention.
Driving from MI. Will be traveling with 2 full families so unfortunately social stops during the commute might not work. I will update you if I am wrong. Might hit the Wendy's at that exit if nothing else.

You better PM me when and exactly where. Fishkill is only half hour from me. If you come down my way there is a BBQ place I’ve been wanting to go to. Haven’t cause the wifey doesn’t like Q.
Newburgh is also supposed have a couple of good BBQ joints
Depending on your route you might very well pass within 1 mile of my house.
Apropos of nothing, years ago I worked an outage at the Indian Point Nuclear Station in Buchanan, and I spent some time in Fishkill cause I liked the name. I lived in a house up a dirt road on Bear Mountain with a couple guys. Nice part of the country, but I don't remember any good BBQ. There was a steakhouse that served buckets of peel and eat shrimp that I used to eat at every other day or so - it was pretty good.

Not that we wouldn’t host you all, but I see what you mean!
If you are looking for a food stop in between Conyngham PA (80/81 intersection) and Scranton (if you take 81 North to 84) or Mt Pocono (if you go west to 476), let me know. Mary’s Diner, directly across from Wendy’s is a decent American Diner style restaurant. Not special, “must visit”, but good solid diner food.
81N is more direct, but it gets pretty jammed up during rush hour. 476N is a toll road, but it’s only a couple bucks and worth it if you’re hitting the area during the commutes.
As far as I know Google Maps wants me to go 80 to 81 to 84. Thanks for the info! I LOVE good classic diner food. Few things make me happier than a great diner omelette & hashbrowns, any time of day, it's a simple pleasure of life.
