Posting here as this event took place in an NYC bbq joint, but had chefs from all over! I attended this event April 30. It was organized to celebrate the life of a BBQ chef who passed away at sadly young age, and raise money for a foundation set up in his memory.
Had a spectacular time...mostly due to some really spectacular food. Dozens of chefs showed up, each serving small samples of their cooking. The hardest part was picking and choosing and pacing myself, by the time I left I was so stuffed I could barely move. (Fortunately plenty of drinks to wash it all down as well..) So many awesome bites I can't remember/mention them all. But a few with photos:
* Tuffy Stone serving "grilled ribeye cap steak with crispy bacon brown butter sauce and gastrique." No I didn't make that up. Really. The photo is proof.
* Tri-tip with a turmeric heavy (according to the pitmaster) rub.
* Smoked lamb sammy from a recently opened place in NJ.
Will highly recommend this event assuming they do it next year..
