Yeah, I saw this the other day - YUM Brands (Taco Bell, KFC, etc.) sold their China holdings to YUM Brands China, and shopped the rest of the global chain to this private equity firm. My understanding is these new guys don't really have any experience in the restaurant/food sphere, so it'll be interesting what they decide to do to try to rebuild the brand and chain.
Over the last few years, YUM has pushed more delivery/carryout only stores and the partnerships with other franchises like Wing Street or whatever. But they've continued to lose market share to Domino's (the 800-lb pizza-eating gorilla) and even Papa John's. Personally, I prefer Pizza Hut's pizza to either of those places, but I don't eat enough pizza to support the brand, fortunately.
I'm interested to see where they go with it... but since I probably eat pizza only a half-dozen times per year myself anymore, it's not likely to be a major problem for me, personally. Half the time my wife orders pizza for herself +/- the kids, I pass on it anyways.
<edit> I remember Red Lobster got sold off similarly like last year? They went through bankruptcy after their larger owner forced them to buy their shrimp through the company's Asian suppliers, keeping purchasing in-house and 'double dipping' as much as possible, but killed Red Lobster in the process? A lot of problems with their real estate, too... I think they sold the land and buildings and paid rent to other companies or something? Dumb, they shot themselves in the foot from what I heard - but then, some PE firms, that is actually their plan.... squeeze all the money they can out of a brand, then drive it into the ground and claim a loss - or something, I don't understand how that all works, but it seems to work for them.
Are Red Lobster locations still open, I dunno? Haven't been to one in a couple years, prolly. They were old, dated, dark, smelly and not modernized or appealing that last few times I tried them. Anyone been to one in the last 3-6 months?
We haven’t been to a Pizza Hut in decades, maybe once in the last 40 years (since I’ve lived in NEPA). I don’t even know where to find one. In my entire life I don’t think I’ve been to Pizza Hut 5 times.
We went to a Red Lobster a couple years ago: 2? 3? It was okay, a typical chain restaurant. “Good enough.” Mrs enjoyed her whatever it was she got, I had a chicken thing that I remember as worth eating.
There is still a Red Lobster here. Ironically it closed due to sewer connection issues for about 6 months, coinciding with the bankruptcy, so I thought it was related. But after busting up their parking lot and building floor to replace those lines, it reopened and is still in business.
I always loved Pizza Hut pizza, but the closest one is just not in a direction I tend to go when looking or a meal, and I hardly ever see more than 1-2 cars in their parking lot.

Once they ditched their salad bar, then changed their cheese out, and (I suspect) changed their sauce, we dropped 'em. That was years ago. Had it a "few" times since, not impressed. We have better pizza joints closer, and with the wood fired pizza craze, there's a number of those close by too.
We haven’t been to a Pizza Hut in years. The last one we did visit was terrible. As far as Red Lobster goes we ate in the one in Amarillo, Tx before we left the panhandle. It was a two hour drive home. We were both very sick by the time we made it there. I’ll never go back to one.
The Pizza Hut in two town isn't too bad, every few months I might get something. Leftovers reheat much better than Little Caesars, Little Caesars starts to taste like Chef Boyardee.
Panhead John I worked at Little Caesar's in the early 1990's in college, when they had 2 pizzas for one low price. One long piece of cardboard with 2 pies on it then slid that in a big paper sleeve. I remember we had 4 or 5 wall mounted phones that rang all day for pick up orders. No computerized stuff, cash only as debit cards weren't a thing yet. We made and proofed our own dough. I remember when I first started, they showed me how to drop the dough balls in a big roller system, I thought
