Daniel Vaughn, the BBQ Editor for Texas Monthly Magazine, traveled to 37 states over 16 months for his compilation of the best Texas Style BBQ found outside of Texas. He visited 149 Texas-style BBQ joints. Here’s his picks, along with a Top 10 of the ones he ate at. I’d be curious if anyone has eaten at any of these, and your thoughts.
I was in Conyers most of the week - Mom had pneumonia and was hospitalized. She is home now and doing well. At 94 any illness is a challenge though. As an aside, she was in Emory St Joseph's and the level of care was excellent.
Anyway, because I am so jealous of the TX meatup crews Q pics, I decided to stop at Fox Brothers on
22” Blue Weber Kettle with SnS insert
Kamado Joe Jr with Kick Ash Basket
Char-Broil Smartchef Tru Infrared Gasser
Anovo Hot Tub Time Machine with Custom Hot Tub
OK, used my VPN - couldn't view with a Canadian address but could view with Australian address. Interesting article. If we go back to Lafayette we need to try Blanchard's.

I of course love smoked meats of all kinds, but also like quick cooks like chicken portions, pork tenderloins, steak and fish. Really into cooking of all kinds.
My outdoor kitchen has a Lone Star Grillz Adjustable and it is wonderful. There also is a Pit Boss 5 Burner Ultimate Griddle and a Pit Boss Copperhead pellet grill.
There is an outdoor fire pit that has grilling capability and limited Santa Maria-style grill raising and lowering.
I have been to both ZZQ and Eazzy Burger. Both are legit and the owners are very friendly. A food writer whose name I have long forgotten wrote that ZZQ has the best brisket east of TX. I can't say that because there are probably a few places east of TX that I have missed, but it was very good.
Eazzy Burger would be a frequent stop if it were closer to me. Not only great burgers, but great homemade onion rings which seem to be a rare commodity around my neck o' the woods these days. And Ardent Brewery, (which is next door), will deliver beer to your table.
Yep, this weekend has been incredibly busy. Must of been the Mini Meatup post that smokenoob posted the other day. It surely brought the crowds in. Now I can appreciate what Franklin's goes through.
Three years going around eating bbq on someone else’s dime to write one article. I could do that kind of “work”. Hadn’t heard of the one in Norfolk, got something to try now.
No love for lil ole Delaware….harumph
The closest ones to me are the 2 in Brooklyn…over 100 miles away.
where was this info last year when my daughter was going to school in NY?
I’ve been to the original Little Miss in Phoenix, and it was excellent. While in line, they will give you a friendly tour of the pit room. I had the Texas Trinity, brisket, ribs and sausage and all were delicious. It was a great experience and I recommend it.
I traveled extensively when I was working and even lived in Charlotte, NC for 5 years and have never been to or even heard any of these places. I guess I have some work to do! Unsurprisingly, no locations in WI listed. 🤷♂️
I added bookmarks in my Yelp for the Oregon ones to try out sometime. Portland ones may be tough as we don’t care to go into Portland. But Hood River one would be a nice drive.
Thankfully, the one in Seattle is in SODO near the ballparks and I won't really have to go into Seattle proper. Totally understand how you feel. Seattle is the same, maybe worse.
