If it was just me, I’d vote for Wendy’s as I love their spicy chicken sandwich and honey mustard.
However, when we travel with the kids, we always end up at McDonalds as it has something for all of our super picky eaters. Sigh. It is also everywhere and it is consistent especially if you’ve come off a long flight and don’t want to deal with off putting flavors.
That said, if I am ranking on straight quality then I pick Culvers.

I will give you Culver’s on outright quality. I don’t think we’ve ever gotten bad food there. Not quite as speedy as others, but you forget that faster when you get to sit and they bring food to you.
For fast food. Professionalism, service and food quality.
1. chick fil A. Always fast, clean, good quality. They seem to treat their staff well and it shows.
2. shake shack. Best chain smashburger and pretty fast.
3. Culver’s good but can be slooow. None in my area.
4. in n out is good but some locations takes an hour to get in and out which is nuts.
5. five guys burgers are good. Fries a bit heavy/greasy
6. Usually disappointed with local subway, smashburger, but they have some potential.
7. all others McDonald’s KFC etc, I’d rather just not.

The best thing about Five Guys is being able to specify all of the toppings you want ahead of time and have them deliver it consistently. I wish more places would offer the same variety of toppings.
When I worked as a delivery driver for a restaurant after college one of my go to dinner items was a chipotle burrito, either barbacoa or carnitas. I never get it with beans either. But I found that to be one of the best foods to eat in the car because I could unwrap it as I ate it and it fit perfectly in the cup holder when I needed to put it down with out making a mess. Now with the kids it’s almost always going to be McDonalds followed closely by chic fil A or Culver’s.
Chick-Fil-A would probably get the #1 spot for me. Always consistent, simple, and delicious.
I would probably have Arbys at #2 on the list. I am a sucker for the beef and cheddar and curly fries.
I wish I could put Wendy's higher on the list but they are just too inconsistent. At their best they are better than all the other national fast food chains but I have been to a few that are very sub par.
Jack In The Box holds a soft spot in my heart. When I worked nights at UPS and got off work at 2 AM they were pretty much the only thing open so I had a Sourdough Jack 4 of 5 times a week and never got tired of it. The Bacon Ultimate Cheeseburger would occasionally get thrown into the mix.
McDonalds is probably the easiest of the bunch to eat while driving and the kids like it so they have to be pretty high on the list.
I love Popeye's spicy fried chicken but there is only one of them within 250 miles of here so I don't get to eat it as much as I wish I could.
Subway would never be the choice if there are other options available and I think I am done with Burger King.
I also really like Carl’s Jr. and Jack in the Box (not as much as Culvers but up there) but the West Coast only presence means I only may hit one up every few years if I am visiting relatives.
Scotch: Current favorite- The Arran (anything by them), Glenmorangie 12yr Lasanta, sherry cask finished. The Balvenie Double Wood, also like Oban 18yr, and The Glenlivet Nadurra (Oloroso sherry cask finished) among others. Neat please.

I'd happily do any of them, so it's a 'what sounds good now' thing for me. I am unabashedly NOT a fast food snob, I just feel it should be a moderation thing, like fatty brisket, beer, cookies, going to work, etc.
