    Need BBQ Recommendations

I am headed up to the Twin Cities for work next month and was hoping to get some food recommendations. BBQ or otherwise.

I will be staying near Golden Valley.

If it were this weekend, I'd suggest driving just a bit further and visiting the Rutty Buck Syrup Company for the best Q in the state, but they may be in the offseason by the time you're there.

      Some places to try:
      • Kramarczuk Sausage Company (a James Beard "american classic"), known for sausages and pastrami brisket
      • Matt's Bar - a dive bar said to have invented the "Jucy Lucy", a cheese-heavy cheeseburger
      • Handsome Hog -- smoked ribs and brisket
      • StormKing Brewpub and BBQ
      • Bakers Ribs

*disclaimer: nope, haven't eaten at any of these places. Looking forward to your reviews if you go

Bakers is solid. Been going there since I was a kid.

Matt’s Bar was great when I was last there a few years ago.

      Animales BBQ

Animales is closer to Golden Valley.Best BBQ in MN, IMHO.

      Buddy Boy BBQ

Kind of a hike from GV, but great BBQ and a close second to Animales. .

Matt's Bar is a good spot. Just make sure to lock your rental car when you go eat.

Lions Tap is by far my favorite burger in the world. It is in my hometown, so I guess I am biased. But this place is an institution.

I love Bakers Ribs. Awesome Texas Style BBQ. Been there forever, I used to go there all the time when I was a kid and I still do. It is located in my hometown. It is the same franchise that is in Dallas. They are Texas ex-pats.

      Non-BBQ
      Bar La Grassa
Great Italian spot. My favorite place in the city.

      112 Eatery
Great Americana style food. Awesome pasta too.

If you wanna go out to the lake, Check out 6Smith or Macanda Mexican Restaurant on Wayzata Bay.

https://www.fireboxdeli.com/ is supposed to be good and in Saint Paul.

Personally the best MN BBQ is now across the river in Hudson with Boomin BBQ.

https://www.bigborebarbecue.com/ I hear this place is great, but a 30 minute drive.

That Lion's Tap burger is excellent.

Thanks for the recommendations, everyone. I sent them over to my collogues as the essential eating list! Will try to update with reviews when I go!

Once Saturday a month Scotty makes some damn good BBQ. He was featured in Texas Monthly. Rolls with a Mill Scale smoker.

If you want a trip out of the Cities you'll love his setup. Great guy.

This is kinda timely as we’re heading to Minneapolis June 30 - July 6 for a convention. Not sure how much time we’ll have to venture out but would love some places to possibly try or check out. We will be staying near convention center.
