    One to skip in Elizabethtown

Deez Butts on Dixie Hwy. As I told my wife, the corn cakes were the highlight of my combination plate. My two meats were under seasoned brisket (sliced with the grain) and pulled pork which was not exceptional either in a good or bad way. The spicy bbq sauce tasted like vinegar and peppers with no other seasonings included. The mild sauce wasn’t bad for dipping fries in. The baked beans tasted like the Heinz Vegetarian Beans my mother used to make. A dear woman, my mom, but a lousy cook.

My wife decided to play it safe and got a cheeseburger which she said was pretty good.

All was not lost in E’town. We found an excellent gelato place downtown, The Dreamery. Sorry no pics from there. Click image for larger version

The corn bread was actually quite good. And the fries were irregularly enough sized that I assumed they were made in-house. I’ll give these folks some credit.

We attempted to stop at the Buc-ee's in VA on Rt 95.

Saw the line trying to get into the parking lot and the line attempting to get out. Turned around and headed for home.

HawkerXP It was not too bad when we stopped, but the cashier said it gets nuts around 10 and just stays busy.

I'll tell you what, Buc-ee's brisket isn't half bad.

Man, if I had known you were contemplating going to Deez Butts I could have told you not to do it. 😆

The Dreamery is good stuff, as is Vibe Coffee on the square.

Bad restaurant bbq is one of the most disappointing experiences there is. Sorry you had to get it.
