So I was working in the vicinity of 71st St. and Ashland. I was in my truck parked and doing some paperwork. I happened to smell BBQ and see smoke.
I got out of my truck and walked over, on the North West corner of Ashland Ave and 71st St. was a pop up BBQ stand. It was 2 guys and a lady with a real nice trailer BBQ/Smoker. They were selling, Spare Ribs, Rib Tips, Hot Links and BBQ Chicken.
I bought 2 leg thigh quarters for $5 bucks. They chopped it up real nice too. The sauce was homemade and the chicken was among the Best BBQ chicken I ever had. I can't wait to go back to work at that site and grab me some good Q.
Their stand was spotless and clean, they clearly knew what they were doing. I saw the main guy using a Therma-Pen to check the temps of the chicken he had on his grill.
If you happen to be on the South Side of Chicago around 12:00-12:30 until they sell out...Pick yourself up a real treat. They're worth it.
Over the years working in many neighborhoods in the City of Chicago, I used to see many BBQ stands similar to the one I saw today. I haven't seen any in a long while. It was nice to see and taste this again. My shout out to the nice folks on 71st St. and Ashland selling great Q.
